OptiRide in short

What is OptiRide?

OptiRide is a free app that compares ride-hailing and taxi app prices. You enter your trip once, OptiRide queries Uber, Bolt, Heetch, FreeNow, G7 and LeCab, then shows their offers side by side.

You pick an offer and you are sent to the partner app to book.

Is OptiRide free?

Yes. The app is free and OptiRide takes no commission on your rides.

Do I need an OptiRide account?

No. OptiRide works without an account: you give no name, no email address and no phone number.

You can link your existing ride-hailing accounts to see the prices of your own accounts. This is optional.

Which phones does OptiRide run on?

iPhone (iOS 16.4 or later) and Android. The app is not available on iPad.

Which languages is the app available in?

French and English.

Prices in OptiRide

Which apps does OptiRide compare?

Today: Uber, Bolt, Heetch, FreeNow, G7 and LeCab. More apps are being added.

The apps on offer depend on the city you are in: not all of them operate everywhere.

What is the difference between an estimate and my account price?

Without a linked account, OptiRide shows an estimate: a ballpark figure, useful to get an idea.

With your ride-hailing accounts linked, OptiRide shows the prices of your own accounts, promotions included, and refreshes them every 30 seconds.

For details, read Estimate or account price.

Why can the price change once I am in the partner app?

Ride-hailing apps recalculate their prices continuously based on demand, the number of available drivers and traffic. Between the moment you compare and the moment you confirm, the price can move.

The price that counts is always the one shown by the partner app when you confirm the ride. Check it before you confirm.

Are promotions and discount codes taken into account?

Yes, when your accounts are linked: OptiRide then shows the price offered to your account, promotions deducted. Without a linked account, the estimate does not include your personal promotions.

Can I sort and filter offers?

Yes. You can sort offers from cheapest to most expensive, or from fastest to slowest.

You can also filter by ride type: Standard, Economy, Electric, Premium, Van/XL or Taxi.

Prices and comparisons

Which ride-hailing app is the cheapest?

None of them is, every time. The ranking changes with the trip, the time and demand.

A worked example, read in OptiRide, is detailed in this article.

Uber or Bolt: which is cheaper?

Neither, consistently. Each sets its prices on demand, with its own drivers and its own promotions: the cheaper one this morning can be the more expensive one tonight.

The only way to know is to compare both when you are about to book.

Taxi or ride-hailing: what is the price difference?

A ride-hailing price is set and shown before you book, and it moves with demand. A taxi follows a regulated metered fare; in Paris, flat rates apply between the city and Roissy and Orly airports.

Depending on the time and demand, one or the other is the better deal. OptiRide shows both: the “Taxi” filter groups the taxi offers.

How much is a ride to the airport?

There is no fixed fare: the price of a ride to Roissy or Orly depends on the time, demand and the app.

Paris taxis, on the other hand, apply a regulated flat rate between Paris and these two airports; the amount is published on service-public.fr (in French). Compare both when you are about to leave.

Does OptiRide favour certain apps?

No. OptiRide is independent of the apps it compares, and none of them is promoted.

Offers are ranked by the criterion you choose, price or speed, and nothing else.

How can I pay less for my rides?

By comparing on every ride rather than once and for all. The other useful habits are in Pay less for your rides: 7 simple habits.

Booking a ride

How do I book after comparing?

Tap the offer you like. OptiRide opens the partner app with your trip and ride type already set. All you have to do is confirm.

Does OptiRide book or charge the ride?

No. OptiRide compares and redirects. Booking, payment and ride tracking happen in the partner app, under its own terms.

OptiRide does not collect, store or process any payment information.

Who do I contact if something goes wrong during a ride?

The customer service of the app you booked with: it handles the driver, the ride and the payment.

For an issue with OptiRide itself (a wrong price display, a bug), write to contact@optiride.fr.

Accounts and data

Where are my ride-hailing logins stored?

Only on your phone, in the secure storage of the operating system. OptiRide keeps no copy on its servers.

If you change phones or reinstall the app, you will need to link your accounts again.

Do I have to turn on location?

No, it is optional. You can type your pickup address by hand. If you allow location, it is only used to set the starting point of your search.

What data does OptiRide collect?

Usage data that is not linked to your identity: screens viewed, searches started, pickup and drop-off areas rounded to about 1 km, technical device data.

Your exact addresses are sent to our analytics tool only if you turn on the “Share my exact trips” option yourself.

Details are in the privacy policy (in French).

How do I get my data deleted?

Write to contact@optiride.fr. We reply within one month. Uninstalling the app also erases everything stored on your phone.

Cities and travel

Which countries does OptiRide work in?

France and elsewhere in Europe. The offers shown depend on the apps operating in the city you are in.

Is OptiRide useful when travelling?

Yes. In a city you do not know well, you open the app you use at home out of habit. Comparing shows you whether another app operating there offers a better deal.

How can I contact you?

By email at contact@optiride.fr, or through the contact page.

Compare before your next ride.

Free, on iPhone and Android.
